The power of leadership to inspire and support staff living through difficult times cannot be underestimated. During this time of teaching and leading in COVID, we have been reminded of the things over which we have no control. In order to survive and thrive, we need to focus on those things that we do control and influence. Drawing on lessons learned from leading a school through closure, and powerful stories from her doctoral research with female principals, Dr. Toogood identifies principles such as: connecting to purpose, focusing on what you can control, living each day with intention, remembering who you serve, and making meaning from the challenges, to help you ground yourself, and inspire your team to keep teaching and learning at the heart of your school culture.
